June 22 - Alec Pearson & Victoria Lukashova at Vancouver Academy of Music

Alec Pearson (VAM faculty) and his student Victoria will give a concert at the Vancouver Academy of Music’s Mary Olson Hall. The event will be in honour of Victoria’s effort to attend VAM’s “Young Artist Collegiate Program”. This event is free to attend. We are hoping you will consider giving a donation in place of a concert ticket. Funds raised will go to help offset Victoria’s tuition costs for the program. Donation info to come soon!

Both plucked string instruments, this program explores the unique sound worlds of the harp and the guitar. These sound worlds are often associated with the ancient, the mythical and the folkloric. Join us for a Festival of Passion and Romance

Our festival theme is “As the Day Turns to Night.” Over the duration of the festival, each concert will progressively show the transition from sunrise to sunset and night, through one or more works. With great pieces in the repertoire that are related to the day or night, I thought this an interesting and fun way to bring classical repertoire to you.

The musicians will also perform works of Robert and Clara Schumann, as well as of Johannes Brahms. The friendship among the three is often characterized as a bit of a love triangle, one that is legendary in classical music.

We cannot exist as a festival without your consistent presence and support. Thank you for coming once again this July to hear powerful, passionate, and thought-provoking chamber music.

See you then – Philip Hansen, Artistic Director and Festival Co-Found
